DescriptionIn this sermon, Bolton seeks 'to illustrate and prove this truth, that God is Love' (see p. 189). The sermon begins as follows: 'It is farre more easy to tell you what God is not, then what he is, (per modum negationis) negatively, its easy to tell you, yt god is not a body, or ye like; but (per modus affirmationis) affirmatively, to say what he is, here is ye difficulty.'

Other NoteThe sermon is identified as '5. Sermon.' Written in a mixed hand (predominantly secretary). There are marginal annotations, and there is some use of Greek and Latin.
