DescriptionThis is an unfinished transcription of a sermon. The original scribe has left large spaces on several pages, perhaps with the intention to complete these parts of the sermon at a later date.
Source of DataHannah Yip
Other NoteWritten in a large, clear hand; a mix of late secretary and round hand features. This sermon is unlikely to be autograph. There are no marginal annotations. Some of the additions may have been written by John Warr. According to Michael Hunter, ‘It is clear that Boyle used Warr extensively in his later years, both for general clerical work and for correspondence. Warr’s hand recurs frequently in the Boyle Papers […] Warr’s hand varies in form from quite a neat italic to a rough running hand, probably written at speed to dictation’. See Hunter, ed., Letters and Papers of Robert Boyle: A Guide to the Manuscripts and Microfilm (Bethseda, MD: University Publications of America, 1992), p. xxxii. Note, however, that there was also a John Warr senior who was used as a scribe by Boyle, and that it is not certain which ‘Warr’ contributed to this manuscript.
