Contents NoteThese papers relate to the Rix family. Only some of them are pertinent to GEMMS. (1) These small folded sheets within a blue paper cover comprise four sermons by Isaac Watts, copied by T. Abney, who appears to be the scribe; (2b) a small paper of sermon notes by T. Cruso; (9) Sermon notes by T. Cruso; (22) A copy made in 1777 of a letter from Leicester Gaol, 6 July 1685 from John Maydwell to Robert and Elizabeth Gidley. There is a transcript of this copy at DWL MS 206.2/85-7; (23) Mr Samll Rix his experience given in to the church June the 3d 1709. The original, in his hand, given to the Independent Church at Denton, Norfolk.
Material FeaturesAll of these materials are loose papers in a box. Some are 18th-century copies of earlier materials.They are in fairly good shape and easy to read, although the edges of the pages and their pale blue paper covers are tattered.

AcquisitionAccording to DWL Catalogue, these sermons are part of the family papers of the Rev. Wilton Edwin Rix (1881-1958), given by him to Dr. Geoffrey F. Nuttall, by whom they were presented to the Library. Other items from the same source are MS 12.71 (7-8). The whole collection of family papers was subsequently given to the Library by Mr. Rix (see MS 206.1).
