Other NotePrecise date of birth unknown, but Trail was baptized on 28 September 1640. M.A. (1658) from the University of Edinburgh. Chaplain to the Laird of Scotstarvet. Preached as a Presbyterian in Lifford, County Donegal, Ireland, beginning in 1671, and was imprisoned there in 1681-1682. Thereafter he lived in Potomac, Maryland but he returned to Scotland at the time of the Glorious Revolution. Minister at Borthwick, Midlothian, from 1690 until his death in 1714.
