ProvenanceOn the leaf between the fly-leaf and f. 1 of the manuscript is written "September ye 20th. 1662 given mee by holy worthy Mr Mathew Newcommen written with his one hand." The recipient remains unknown. A later owner has written above this inscription "Robert Winter Kensington." The CL Catologue conjectures that he was Robert Winer, D.D. (1762-1833), minister at Hammersmith, Middlesex (1783-96); assistant minister at Salters' Hall, London (1790-1802); and minister at Hanover Street, Long Acre, London (1796-1802). The volume was purchased from R. Baynes in 1840 by Sir John Rickerton Williams, whose bookplate appears inside the front cover.
AcquisitionThe volume was part of Joshua Wilson's bequest to the library in 1876 and bears the Wilson presentation stamp.
