Other NoteNathaniel Mather was born in Much Woolton, Lancashire on 20 March 1630. He was the second son of the minister Richard Mather (1596-1669). In 1635, he travelled with his family to Massachusetts, graduating M.A. from Harvard College in 1647. He was presented by Oliver Cromwell to the living of Barnstaple, Devon in 1656. Ejected in 1660, he left England and became pastor of an English congregation in Rotterdam. In 1671, he replaced his brother Samuel as pastor of the New Row Congregational Church in Dublin. Mather died on 26 July 1697, and was buried in Bunhill Fields, London.
