Other NoteMitton was admitted to Pembroke College, Cambridge, in 1680 at age 17. He moved to Jesus College, Cambridge in 1683, earning a B.A. (1685/6) and M.A. (1689). Mitton was vicar of Kildwick, Yorkshire (1698-1705) and Skipton, Yorkshire (1705-1740). He was a rural dean in 1723. Mitton died in June 1640. He had two sons: John (b. 1705) and Robert (b. 1716).
