Other NoteObadiah Sedgwick was born c. 1600 at Wiltshire, the son of Joseph Sedgwick, the vicar of St Peter, Marlborough. He matriculated at Queen's College, Oxford on 18 June 1619. He graduated B.A. from Magdalen Hall on 5 May 1620, proceeding M.A. on 23 January 1623. He was awarded a B.D. degree on 16 January 1630. In the same year, he became curate and lecturer at St Mildred, Bread Street, London. Nine years later, Sedgwick became vicar of Coggeshall, Essex. He also served as one of the Westminster Assembly of Divines. From 1645 until 1646, he was rector of St Andrew, Holborn, and in 1646, he was minister of St Paul's Church, Covent Garden. Sedgwick died in January 1658, and was buried at Wiltshire.
