It draws upon, among other sources, Basilikon Doron by King James VII and I and De Veritate Christianae religionis by Philippe de Mornay. The begins and ends with Latin poetry, ff. 1b, 64. ff. 65-76 include two sermons. The volume is signed by John Dennis on the flyleaf. The signature appears to match the hand of the letter and poems, but the sermons are in a different hand.
