TitleNotebook containing exposition of Isaiah V. 1-7, by Nehemiah Rogers, pastor at Messing in Essex. Printed in 1623. Also a lecture by Dr. Owen, on Psalm 141. 5.
ShelfmarkGB 247 MS Gen 420
Creation Dateca. 1623 - 1681
Contents NoteOne half of the MS is an exposition of Isaiah 5:1-7 by Nehemiah Rogers. The author of the MS cannot be Nehemiah Rogers as he died in 1660 and one of the sermons is dated to 1681. The other half of the MS contains 11 sermons by various preachers, all in one hand written by an unknown author. The end pages contain an index. The exposition and sermons both appear to have been copied/written down by the one unknown author. Rather than the sermons being taken from one location/year, they appear to have been hand selected and are predominantly the work of quite well known Puritan and dissenting English ministers.
Material FeaturesA leather bound notebook with very minor wear to paper edges. The cover ties are missing but otherwise the binding is in very good condition. There are page numbers that appear to be original to the MS and the half of the MS containing the exposition is in reverse.
