Contents NoteContains 21 sermons preached in 1655 by various preachers. A key is provided at the beginning of the MS detailing the full names of the preachers and the page numbers for their sermons, only their initials are used in the individual sermons. The first page of the MS contains the following inscriptions - 'Jacobus Wodrow aught this book' 'in my defences God me defend Jaocbus Wodrow aught this book' 'Jacobus Wodrow it my hand.' There are other notes on the first and final pages.
Material FeaturesA leather bound notebook, there is some damage to the cover and the original ties are largely missing. The paper is frayed around the edges and but the MS remains in largely good condition. There are page numbers (original to the MS) and no foliation, there are 220 pages in total. The sermons are numbered and the MS runs in two directions, with sermons 1-15 at the front, and sermons 1-6 going from the rear.

AcquisitionPart of a collection of papers of Robert Wodrow held by the University of Glasgow. The manuscript was acquired from Charles W Wodrow Thomson on 8th July 1891.

Other NoteThis MS appears to be connected to MS Gen 426. Both MS in the same hand and have inscriptions by Wodrow. In MS Gen 426 he signs 'J Wodrow' and here 'Jacobus Wodrow', meaning James Wodrow. In 1655 he was a student at the University of Glasgow.
