Contents NoteThis item is described in excellent detail in the DWL catalogue. It is an oblong book bound in leather, stamped on each board ‘G.P.’, and containing ‘A Sermon Occasioned by the death of Mr. John Cox who Deceased November 1. 1710. By Mr. Nath. Foxwell.’ This title is followed by a list of Headings, ff. 2-4, and then another title which adds ‘Preach’d at Park Gate November 19. 1710.’ The sermon occupies ff. 5-44a and then comes a list of texts quoted, ff. 44b-45a.
On the inside of the front board is written:
‘Geo: Peascod of 7 oaks in Kent his booke December: 16; 1714’ and ‘This Sermon wos Riten by Tho: harrison In the yeare 1714. And gave him two shillings for Righting of itt.’ The remainder of the volume, more than half, is blank save for the following: note of the births of George Peascod (Tatsfield, Surrey, 17 March 1680), and of his daughters, Frances (1709), Mary (1710), and Elizabeth (1712) all at Sevenoaks, and of Silas Chittenden at Rounden, Kent (1710), f. 46.

On the inside of the back cover:
‘Mary Peascod a woman that fareth the Lord she shall be praised [etc].’
Material FeaturesThe front board has become detached from the manuscript. Otherwise, the manuscript is in very good condition and written in a clear, neat hand.
