Contents NoteThis volume contains a collection of quotations, thought to be in the hand of Robert Cawdray. It is labelled "Ex Libris J. W. M. Vyse". The notes were taken in Oxford in 1590; the first date appears to be 22 April. The quotations are described as "Pleasant, Delightful, and Profitable, for all Estates of Men in general" (see title page of printed version). The contents are not organized as they are in the printed book.

Other NoteThe book was printed in 1600 (according to the copy at the Huntington Library), but the printed book is huge in comparison, is organized alphabetically by topic, and has an index of topics covered and an epistle dedicatory. No preachers are identified in the printed volume, whereas in the manuscript the preachers are often named.
