Contents NoteThis volume contains Evelyn's copies of religious material by Margaret Blagge, wife of Sidney Godolphin. These include sermon notes, as well as hymns and poetry. Evelyn has written, "Devotions of Mrs Blaggs which I copied out at the Request of my Lady Sylvius & from whom I borrowed them afterwards & intend to Restore". An additional note, added after 1698, reads "and now by her [Lady Sylvius's] Permission I would have them presented to my Lady Harriet Godolphin", the latter being Blagge's daughter.
Material FeaturesQuarto notebook in marbled modern binding, 195 x 150mm, iii + 22 leaves. Evelyn has paginated Blagge's writings, pp. 81-119. These pages are from a longer, unidentified work. The Bible texts are missing from many of the sermon notes.

Other NotePrecise date unknown. The date is after 1678, when Blagge died, and must be before Evelyn's death in 1706. Blagge's notes are assumed to be from the period when she was married to Godolphin, 1675-1678.
