Other NoteTrail was born at Elie in Fifeshire and attended the University of Edinburgh. He was a private tutor or chaplain before fleeing to Holland in 1667. He returned to London in 1669 and was ordained to a Presbyterian charge in Cranbrook, Kent in 1670. In 1677 he was arrested in Edinburgh for preaching in private houses, and imprisoned. After his release, he returned to Kent and later to London, where he ministered to a Scots church.
