Other NoteSir Thomas Sadleir was born in 1534 or 1536. He was the son of Sir Ralph Sadleir, of Standon, Hertfordshire. He matriculated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, in 1554. Sir Thomas was M.P. for Lancaster in 1572-1583, High Sheriff of Hertfordshire in 1588 and 1595-1596, and was knighted by King James I in 1603. He died on 5 January 1606, in Standon. Robert Tounson preached his funeral sermon at Standon on 17 February 1606 (Inner Temple Library, Petyt MS. 531 E).
