Other NoteJohn Vaughan was born on 14 September 1603 at Trawscoed, Cardiganshire. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford, but did not graduate. He was subsequently admitted to the Inner Temple in November 1621, and was called to the bar nine years later. Vaughan was elected to Parliament for Cardigan borough in April and December 1640. He represented Cardiganshire in the Cavalier Parliament from 1661 to 1668. A renowned orator, Vaughan was recognized by the likes of Samuel Pepys and John Evelyn. He was knighted on 20 May 1668. Vaughan died on 10 December 1674, and was buried twelve days later in the Temple Church.
