Other NoteRev. Joseph Taylor was the son of John and Katherine Taylor. His father was Butler of Harvard College. His exact birth date is unknown, but he was born in Cambridge, MA. He was part of the class of 1669 and was made a fellow of the college in 1673. He was preaching in New Haven in 1674 and would continue there until the spring of 1679, when he was invited to preach at Southampton, Long Island. He was given 100 acres of land in perpetuity and a salary of £100, paid in goods. He married and had a son, John Taylor (part of Harvard class of 1699), born on 5 October 1678. He is buried at Southampton.
