Other NoteWilliam Smith was born c. 1719, the fifth son of Sir Edward Smith, Baronet, of Hill Hall, Essex. He was admitted a scholar at Trinity Hall, Cambridge on 7 January 1738, and was awarded the degree of LL.B. in 1754. A year later, he was instituted to the rectories of Theydon Mount and Stapleford Tawney, both in Essex. Smith succeeded his brother Charles as 6th Baronet on 24 March 1773. On 25 January 1777, he died at the age of fifty-seven and was buried at Theydon Mount.
