Other NoteThe exact date of birth of William Waynflete is unknown. He became master of Winchester College in 1430. In 1440, Waynflete became a fellow of Eton College, and was provost there three years later. In 1447, Waynflete became bishop of Winchester, a post which he was hold until his death. From 1456 until 1460, William Waynflete served as Lord Chancellor of England. William Waynflete died at Bishops Waltham on 11 August 1486, and was buried at Winchester Cathedral. Waynflete is remembered today as the founder of Magalen College, Oxford. See Virginia Davis, William Waynflete: Bishop and Educationalist (Woodbridge: The Boydell Press, 1993).
