Other NoteThomas Barbour was born on 19 August 1884. He received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1906; four years later, he was awarded his Ph.D. from the same institution. He specialised in herpetology, and his publications included 'Naturalist at Large' (1950). From 1925, he served as President of the New England Museum of Natural History. In 1927, he became Director of the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Massachusetts. He died of cerebral haemorrhage on 8 January 1946, at the age of sixty-one.
