Other NoteAlfred Marston Tozzer was awarded his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1904. In 1913, he was appointed curator of Middle American Archaeology and Ethnology at the Peabody Museum. Shortly after the First World War, Tozzer was appointed chairman of the Department of Anthropology at Harvard. His publications include 'Maya Grammar' (1921) and 'Social Origins and Social Continuities' (1925). From 1928 until 1929, Tozzer served as president of the American Anthropological Association. Tozzer died in 1954.
