Other NoteJulius Parnell Gilson was born on 23 June 1868 at Worksop, Nottinghamshire. He was admitted pensioner at Trinity College, Cambridge on 8 October 1886. He was a scholar in 1887 and graduated B.A. in 1889, proceeding M.A. in 1893. Gilson also studied at Bonn and Hanover. He was Assistant Master at Sherborne School before becoming an Assistant in the Manuscripts Department of the British Museum in 1894. In 1909, he became Assistant Keeper. On 16 June 1929, he died at the Cottage Hospital at Weybridge; he was buried three days later.
