Other NoteRichard Hamilton Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe was born in 1908 (exact date unknown). He studied at Harrow School and Magdalene College, Cambridge. After university, he held a number of military posts, serving in Palestine, Norway, and the Middle East in the 1930s and 1940s. He was styled 2nd Baronet Brigadier; in 1946, he was appointed CBE. He retired in 1947 and died in 1985. His autobiography, written in 1978, was presented to King's College London in 1985.
