Other NoteBaptized at Bradfield St. George, Suffolk, in September 1625. Son of Samuel Crossman (bef. 1600-aft.1661), the vicar there, and Mary (née Willoughby). Began his university education at Pembroke College, Cambridge, in 1642. Received his BA in 1645, and his MA in 1651. Since Crossman shares the same first name as his father, it is difficult to determine who held which post. It is believed that Crossman's father was the minister at Bradfield St George until 1644 and Bradfield St Clare until 1661. Crossman himself was ordained in June 1647 in London as a Congregational minister. Married Grace by 1647. Vicar of All Saints, Sudbury, Suffolk, 1647-1660. Pastor of a congregational church at Sudbury, ca. 1651-. Assistant to the Suffolk Commission in December 1657. Rector of Little Henny, Essex, ca. 1650s-1662. Earned his BD in 1660. Ejected from his post at Little Henny and imprisoned for his Congregationalist preaching in 1662. Conformed to the Church of England when he was ordained in October 1665 as a deacon and priest at Norwich. Curate of St Gregory's and St Peter's, Sudbury, 1665-1666. Appointed as a chaplain to the king, ca. 1667. Prebendary of Bristol, 1667-1683. Vicar of St. Nicholas, Bristol, 1667-1684. Possibly rector of Compton Greenfield, Gloucestershire, 1672-1684 (CCEd). Possibly rector of St. Mabin, Cornwall, 1674 (ACAD). Dean of Bristol, 1683-1684. Buried at Bristol Cathedral. At some point, he married a woman named Catherine, presumably after the death of his first wife. He had five children, and three survived him.
