Other NoteWilliam Standish, son of Francis Standish, precentor of Peterborough Cathedral, was born at Peterborough. He matriculated from Magdalene College, Cambridge in 1680, and migrated to Queens' College in 1682. He graduated B.A. in 1683/4 and proceeded M.A. before 1687. He was a minor canon of St Paul's London from 1687-9 and served as rector of Uppingham, Rutland in 1689 from 1743. He married Mary Horton in 1692; they had at least one son. Standish died in 1743.
