Other NoteZackary Cradock, son of Samuel Cradock, matriculated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1647. He graduated B.A. in 1651 from Emmanuel and proceeded M.A. at King’s College in 1654, having become a chaplain at that college in 1650. He was elected fellow of Queens’ College, Cambridge in 1654 and held the position until 1659. In 1657, he was made chaplain to the English merchant company in Lisbon. Having proceeded B.D. in 1661 and D.D. in 1666, he became a chaplain to Charles I and preacher at Gray’s Inn shortly after the Restoration. He was rector of Pett and also became a canon and prebendary of Chichester Cathedral in 1670. Cradock was appointed a fellow Eton College in 1671, and in 1681 became provost of the college. He was renowned for his preaching and oratory skills. Cradock died on 16 October 1695 (Venn lists his date of death as 17 November 1695) at the age of 62 and was buried in Eton College chapel.
