AcquisitionThe estate of Stowe in Buckinghamshire was purchased in 1590 by Peter Temple, and remained in possession of the Temple family throughout the seventeenth century. Richard Temple, Viscount Cobham, was the last owner of the estate who belonged to the Temple family; after his death, the estate was passed to the Grenvilles.
