Chaplain to Queen Elizabeth I. Lord Prebendary of Westminster beginning in 1597, and dean of Westminster, 1601-1605. Bishop of Chichester, 1605-1609, and lord almoner beginning in this period. Bishop of Ely, 1609-1618. Bishop of Winchester and Dean of the Chapel Royal from 1619 until his death in 1626.
