Other NoteThe exact birth date of Aldrich Swan is unknown. He was educated at Westminster School, London. Subsequently, he was admitted pensioner at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, on 21 April 1662, at the age of seventeen. He graduated B.A. in 1665/6, proceeding M.A. in 1669. He was ordained as deacon at Peterborough on 2 June 1667. Aldrich Swan was inducted into the parish church of Kington Magna on 25 June 1669. As rector of Kington Magna, Swan built the free writing school and adjoining almshouses at Pamphill, Dorset. A manuscript volume of sermons authored by Swan is held at the Chained Library at Wimborne Minster, where he had served as a minister from 1680. He was also presented to the rectory of Langton Long, near Blandford, Dorset, in 1712. He held the livings of Kington Magna and Langton Long until his death in 1614; after which, the rectory of Kington Magna was passed to his son Aldrich (1673-1749). His younger son Francis (1678-1740) inherited the rectory of Langton Long.
