Other NoteThe exact date of birth of Robert Hitchcock is unknown. Originally from Wiltshire, he matriculated, aged fourteen, at Brasenose College, Oxford on 10 May 1605. He graduated B.A. from Magdalen College, Oxford on 25 January 1608/9 and proceeded M.A. on 23 May 1612. He was a Fellow of the College from 1612 until 1616. Hitchcock was awarded the degree of B.D. on 10 May 1620. In 1622, he became vicar of Aston Abbotts, Buckinghamshire. He gained the additional living of Wingrave, also in Buckinghamshire, in 1636. In 1660, he became canon of Lincoln and sinecure rector of Pennant in Wales. From 1665, he was instituted to the vicarage of Ellesborough, Buckinghamshire. Hitchcock died in 1673.
