Other NoteThomas Tewer (Tuer), son of Abdy Tewer of Sawbridgworth, Herts., was born in Middlesex on 22 September 1610. He was educated at Merchant Taylors' school before matriculating from St. John's College, Oxford in 1629 at the age of 19; he graduated B.A. in 1632 and proceeded M.A. in 1636 (later incorporated at Cambridge in 1640). He was made the vicar of St. Laurence, Reading in 1643, a position from which he was ejected; however, he appears to have been restored to the living at some point. He also served as the vicar of Black Bourton. Tewer died in 1671; his funeral sermon notes that he died on Michaelmas day (Sept 29). The vacancy record is dated 12 April of 1671/2.
